Vet Candy launches new lifestyle show for the veterinary audience

“Vet Candy Life,” featuring well-being gurus Dr. Quincy Hawley and Renee Machel, hopes to relieve stress in the profession with its innovative lifestyle format.

Montclair, NJ: Today marks the launch of Vet Candy Life, a show that focuses on physical, emotional, and financial wellness for veterinary professionals and students.

Veterinary medicine is a stressful profession, and veterinarians experience a high rate of burnout and compassion fatigue. According to a recent wellness study, even those who were mentally healthy and had high levels of well-being overall experienced feelings of depression, anxiety, compassion fatigue, or burnout with some frequency.

Spelling is Everything!

We know you are all hard at work studying for finals, but take a moment to read this anecdote from Shannon Rudin of the University of Minnesota!  Thanks for the chuckle Shannon!

'Last spring, I was enrolled in the college's pathology lab, which unfortunately had to be completed online. The instructor's were kind enough to continue to film necropsy explorations for us to watch at home. During one of the labs, there was a pus-filled growth that was cut into and oozed in a gross but satisfactory way. The students in my class started to cheer in the chat function of zoom saying how great it was and how much we loved to see it. I decided to join in, and to my entire class and teaching staff sent a chat saying "We! Want! More! Puss!"..... The chat went silent and another classmate responded privately to me saying, "I think you meant to say pus..."
