Did your school host an AMAZING ALL for Students event this semester? Show your appreciation by nominating it for the 2020 ALL for Students SAVMie! “SAVMie” awards recognize excellence among SAVMA Chapters, and winners are announced at the 2021 SAVMA Symposium at Kansas State. This is the first year that the award is open to nominations, and anyone in any class year can submit! All nominators are entered into a Starbucks gift card raffle AND the school with the most nominations gets an ALL for Students banner for their SAVMA chapter!

Outside Learning Opportunities The Human-Animal Bond Grant
Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 01:00PM Are you passionate about the human-animal bond? Have you been trying to come up with ways to emphasize the importance of it at your school? Read below to learn more about a funding opporunity for just that! Deadline approaching!
"The purpose of this AWESC Human-Animal Grant is to reimburse SAVMA members to initiate or sustain human-animal bond projects, defray expenses for special lectures on topics involving human-animal bond, and enhance the education of veterinary students in tangible ways related to the human-animal bond. The grant does NOT cover travel expenses for any mentioned about. The grant will provide 5 students with a total of $500 each. The application will be due October 31st, 2020 at 11:59pm. The winning participants will be notified November 20th, 2020.

Meet Dr. Gregg Veneklasen, the vet behind the worlds only cloned Przewalski horse
A cloned Texas horse named Kurt, born with genetic material from another horse that was cryopreserved for 40 years, has the potential to save what is thought to be the last truly wild breed, the Przewalski’s horse. Only around 2,000 of this species remains on the planet.
On Aug. 6, 2020, the world’s first successfully cloned Przewalski’s horse was born in Texas at the veterinary facility, Timber Creek Veterinary with help from veterinarian, Dr. Gregg Veneklasen.
