NAVLE Survey

Well, the impending doom of the NAVLE has begun! With the application opening up on June 1st, many final-year veterinary students are starting to prepare for the exam. SAVMA's Education and Professional Development Comittee collected information from around 500 students who took the NAVLE in 2019-2020, and the results are in! They answered questions about how to prepare, how much time you should spend preparing, and so on. Check out the graphic below or the June SAVMANews for more information.

Drinks and Discussions

Check out this awesome event taking place this week below!

"🏳‍🌈 Welcome to Drinks and Discussions! Taking place this Wednesday, June 10, 8 pm ET

We invite you and your PrideSVMC chapter to grab a drink of choice, learn about a topic and then have a space to discuss!

While the self-imposed isolation we are experiencing with COVID19 is vastly different than the harsh realities of the AIDS pandemic, there are many lessons that echo community response and survival. This lecture will review the first decade of the AIDS Pandemic in relation to animal companionship, pet-associated zoonoses education and veterinary practice. The brief history of San Francisco's Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) for People with AIDS/ARC, founded in 1986, will offer a template for community and veterinary response to a pandemic. This includes a pet food bank, emergency foster care, veterinary care, volunteerism and education. Examples of veterinary student leadership and advocacy will be highlighted. COVID-19 once again brings the veterinary profession to the frontlines of a pandemic, and the One Health lens can offer us insights.

A group discussion and Q & A will follow. πŸ’¬"
